frequently asked questions
You Have Questions and We Have Answers.
When is the best time to contact you about engaging your services?
For the best experience, we recommend that expectant mothers reach out to us during the second trimester. This allows us ample time to plan for your babyβs arrival and reserve a spot for your family in our schedule. However, we understand that birth and newborns can be unpredictable. If youβre interested in our nanny and babysitting services, postpartum and newborn care, or newborn overnight care, please donβt hesitate to contact us as soon as possible. Weβre here to discuss your options and provide the support you need.
Do you require a contract?
We require a signed services agreement for all of our services to ensure consistent and reliable support. For your convenience, all our services are included in a single agreement, eliminating the need for multiple contracts for different services. Just sign once, and youβre covered for any service you need. While we prioritize scheduling for clients with contracts, we also offer as-needed services based on team member availability. Please note that as-needed services are provided at a higher rate and must be prepaid on the day of service. Whether you need nanny and babysitting services, postpartum and newborn care, or newborn overnight care, weβre here to support your familyβs needs with flexibility and dedication.
Do you require a minimum amount of hours?
To ensure the best care for your family, we do have minimum hour requirements: 8 hours for overnight care and 4 hours for daytime care. Our overnight care hours typically start no later than 10 PM and end no earlier than 6 AM. These guidelines help ensure the safety and well-being of our team during nighttime hours. Whether you need nanny and babysitting services, postpartum and newborn care, or newborn overnight care, weβre here to support your familyβs needs with care and dedication.
Do you accept corporate benefits such as Carrot?
Yes, The Baby Hive is proud to accept corporate benefits such as Carrot. We meet the requirements for these benefits, allowing you to utilize your corporate support to access our postpartum doula services. If you have any specific questions about using your corporate benefits with us, please feel free to reach out. Weβre here to assist you every step of the way!
How many days/weeks do you recommend for newborn services?
The ideal duration for our newborn services depends on your budget and your familyβs goals. If youβre considering overnight care and wish to implement sleep training or sleep conditioning, we recommend 5 to 7 nights per week for 10-12 weeks to help your baby achieve 8-12 consecutive hours of sleep per night. However, we are here to provide support and care tailored to your familyβs needs, whether you require our services for a short or extended period. Whether you need nanny and babysitting services, postpartum and newborn care, or newborn overnight care, our team is dedicated to supporting your familyβs unique journey.
Trainings & Certifications
What are the different levels of trainings?
-
All of our night nannies are CPR certified and must have completed either the Postpartum Doula or Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) training. Additionally, they are required to be actively working on the other certification. This training involves 180 to 1800 hours of specific case work experience. Our night nannies are enrolled in our internship program, preparing for their exams and final certification. They provide comprehensive care throughout the night and rest when the baby sleeps, ensuring both you and your baby receive the best care possible.

A Postpartum Doula is a compassionate, non-clinical professional dedicated to providing emotional, physical, and evidence-based informational support to new families after the birth of their baby. This invaluable support helps parents better care for their newborns and themselves. Our Postpartum Doulas offer guidance on birth recovery and basic infant care, provide feeding support and information for both breastfeeding and bottle-feeding, offer comfort, assist with household organization, and provide referrals as needed. While they typically work during the day, they can also provide overnight support under the parent's supervision. All of our Postpartum Doulas have completed their professional education through recognized organizations such as DONA, CAPPA, ICEA, ProDoula, and Stillbirthday.

At The Baby Hive, our Newborn Care Specialists (NCS) and advanced specialists are highly trained professionals with extensive experience in newborn care. These experts bring the knowledge and skills necessary to provide both responsive and proactive care for your family and newborn(s).
Our NCSs offer hands-on guidance and instruction for parents on various aspects of newborn care, including:
Breastfeeding and bottle-feeding
Healthy sleep habits
Scheduling
Swaddling techniques
Self-soothing techniques
Sleep teaching from birth to six months of age
They are adept at gentle sleep conditioning for newborns, supporting infants with reflux and colic and caring for parents experiencing postpartum mood disorders. While our NCSs can provide as much or as little care as parents desire, they never take over complete care of the newborn unless specifically instructed to do so by the parents. They offer ongoing support for the first three to six months and can provide care during the day, night, or even round the clock. Our NCSs have recent postpartum home care experience and have completed their training and testing through recognized organizations such as Gentle Ventures, Newborn Care Training Academy, Summer's Sleep Secrets, Newborn IQ, and Newborn Care Solutions.
Our advanced specialists go beyond the standard expectations of a Newborn Care Specialist and Certified Postpartum Doula. To qualify, they must have at least four consecutive years of recent postpartum support experience and maintain up-to-date credentials. Additionally, they are certified with CAPPA or DONA. These experts possess a strong history of excellence in hands-on skill implementation for complex cases, including twins, high-order multiples, and preemies. They are adept at sleep training newborns, infants, and toddlers, as well as addressing issues such as reflux, colic, and postpartum mood disorders.
Our advanced specialists often work as consultants, providing observations, evaluations, assessments, and solutions-based casework. They collaborate with other elite professionals to ensure parents receive the highest level of newborn care and education. These specialists are particularly valuable for sensitive cases involving infant or maternal recovery care, including high-risk pregnancies, postpartum mood disorders, and babies who have spent time in the NICU.
Whether you need nanny and babysitting services, postpartum and newborn care, nanny placement, or newborn overnight care, The Baby Hive is here to support your family's unique needs with our team of dedicated and highly trained professionals.

A baby nurse at The Baby Hive is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) who specializes in caring for newborns with medical issues or challenges. These dedicated professionals assist parents in transitioning to life at home with a newborn who may have spent time in the NICU or has other clinical-level medical needs. Our RNs are well-versed in medical terminology and procedures and provide the specialized care your baby requires.
All our RNs have current credentials and have specialized training in pediatric care, postpartum care, and/or lactation. They bring at least four consecutive years of exemplary experience working in private homes or inpatient/outpatient settings.

**Please note: The term "baby nurse" is sometimes used to refer to a Newborn Care Specialist, but itβs crucial to differentiate between the two. In most states, only a licensed Registered Nurse can legally be called a baby nurse. While Newborn Care Specialists do not have formal medical education, some may have additional medical training alongside their NCS certification.
